Operation Ruman was the United Kingdom's hurricane relief operation in the Caribbean in 2017, led by the Royal Navy's HMS Ocean.
The vessel supported with the deployment of Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP), its embarked Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) and osupporting assets to deliver aid to hurricane-stricken islands like the British Virgin Islands after the devastating Hurricane Irma.
Royal Marines LCVP MKV's from 9 Assault Squadron embarked on HMS Ocean conducted almost 200 landing craft launches and recoveries, landing 600 people and stores across 17 isolated locations.
