We Have Ways Festival 2026 - Royal Marines ww2 HQ

I am delighted to reveal that the Royal Marines WW2 HQ will be dug in at the spectacular 'We Have Ways' WW2 Festival in September this year.

Over 78,000 Royal Marines eventually took part in WW2.

Present in every theater, from the first actions until the last, they saw service in most major campaigns from Norway to Africa, the Mediterranean and Europe as well as the Far East.

Also present at almost every major sea engagement and took part in most allied amphibious landings from Dieppe, to Africa, Sicily to Walcheren and the Arakan.

Around 17,600 took part in D Day and the Battle for Normandy alone and by the end of the war around 7,542 Royal Marines would lose their lives with many more wounded.

Their story is often overlooked or diluted. It is time to help put that right!

1. The Royal Marines WW2 History stand will include;

   1. Daily talks on various theatres, operations or actions including

      1. A presentation on the Royal Marines in WW2

      2. The formation and operation of 30 CDO

      3. D Day Royal Marines

      4. The Marine Wrens of WW2

   2. RM and Commando re-enactors

   3. The MARENS (Marine Wrens) of WW2

   4. Vehicles (in both RM and 30 CDO markings)

   5. Weapons, equipment and artifacts

   6. A D Day Commando load and equipment demo and try yourself   

   7. Demonstration of WW2 field cooking/rations, sniping, PIAT drills etc.

   8. Commando training talk and demo (i.e. unarmed combat/ why things are seen, crossing wire etc.) 

   9. Kids Commando training followed by a mock commando raid

   10. Videos and scrolling information screen

   11. Promotion of Royal Marines Charity and RM Association

   12. Promotion of the RM Museum and Royal Marines Historic Society

   13. Give aways and stickers etc.

   14. A unique and very special display from a UK rememberance charity
